Kingwood Drive Replacement Panels

8/17/2018
Council Member Dave Martin would like to make the community aware of two repairs being made in Kingwood, beginning Monday, August 20, 2018. The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of identified deteriorated pavement sections of existing roadway along Kingwood Drive and Chestnut Ridge. The goal of this effort is to preserve as well as to prolong the life of the road base while providing a smoother riding surface.

On Monday, August 20, crews will begin a panel replacement in the eastbound lane of Kingwood Drive at the intersection of Chestnut Ridge. The concrete panel replacement will be performed in the eastbound gutter lanes. Additionally, there will be a single panel replacement in the southbound lane of Chestnut Ridge, just south of the intersection at Kingwood Drive. Construction is anticipated to be complete at these locations, by Tuesday, August 28, weather permitting.

There will be one lane open at all times during the time of construction to maintain the flow of traffic. Construction equipment movement in the driving lanes will be limited between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During the project, drivers should expect reduced speed through the channelized area. To ensure driver and worker safety, traffic control measures will be in place at all times. The District E office has also contacted the Houston Police Department's Kingwood Substation to ask that officers monitor the location and provide assistance with traffic control as needed.

For more information on the repairs on Kingwood Drive, please contact the District E office at (832) 393-3008 or via email at districte@houstontx.gov.
