Parked Car Safety

Residents should put things out of sight or remove them from the vehicle before parking. This includes parking at home or at other locations. When at home, try not to park on the street but to park on the driveway or in garage.

The best advice that residents can follow is to make their vehicles look as empty as possible by storing literally everything out of sight PRIOR to parking. For example, something as benign as a phone charging cable can entice a burglar. No tip is 100% effective, but we know that burglars hedge their bets and will take more chances on vehicles that show clues that there are potentially items of value.
